Strikers Open Season With a Win
The Strikers opened up their season this weekend at home with a win against the Hockessin Flash. The Strikers played a very balanced smart game and had a number of chances early in the game. Late in the first half they were able to get the ball past the tough Hokessin defense and keeper to take a 1-0 lead. The 2nd half was well played by both teams. Both squads had chances but the defense and goal keepers held tight and the Strikers started the season wth a 1-0 victory.

On Sunday they were at Heebner again to face the MNSA Crushers. MNSA moved up from division 4 to division 3 by finishing a strong 2nd last year to Lighthouse. MNSA controlled much of the play in the first half but the Striker's defense was able to hold on and went into halftime down 1-0. The Strikers came out strong in the 2nd half and after coming close a few times got a great shot into the upper corner of the net to tie the game at 1-1. MNSA had 3 very good cances to score late in the game but the Striker's defense and strong goal tending allowed the girls to escape with a tie.

It was a great opening weekend. The Strikers travel t Lighthouse next Sunday to face last years division 4 winner Lighthouse Power.
